Identification of Bacteria using Staining techniques

Staining is a technique used in microscopy to enhance contrast in microscopic images. Stains and dyes are frequently used in biological tissues for viewing, often with the aid of different microscopes.

    IMViC Test

IMViC reactions are a set of four useful reactions that are commonly employed in the identification of members of the family Enterobacteriaceae. The four reactions are the Indole test, Methyl Red test, Voges Proskauer test, and Citrate utilization test. The letter “i” is only for rhyming purposes.

    Sterilization Process

Sterilization is a process that eliminates (removes) or kills all forms of life, including transmissible agents (such as fungi, bacteria, viruses, spore forms, etc.) present on a surface, contained in a fluid, in medication, or in a compound such as biological culture media

Isolation and preservation methods for pure cultures

A pure culture is usually derived from a mixed culture (one containing many species) by transferring a small sample into a new, sterile growth medium in such a manner as to disperse the individual cells across the medium surface or by thinning the sample many times before inoculating the new medium.

    Bacterial Growth Curve

Most bacteria divide in a short amount of time and produce a large number of bacteria – easier to represent these large numbers by logarithmic scales

    Cultivation of Anaerobs

Anaerobes are the predominant components of the skin’s and mucous membranes normal flora – cause infections of endogenous origin
